The Sodas of Summer

Updated: Feb 24

Old Man Winter may not be ready to let go of Texas yet, but the first batch of summer-inspired sodas are already hitting grocery store shelves. This year, we’re seeing not only the debut of new, fruity twists but also the return of old favorites that (rightfully) earned permanent spots in their brands’ lineup with their success last year.

Here are a few that we’ve spotted in Texas grocery stores. Tell us in the comments below which ones you’ve tried and which ones you’ll add to your cart on your next shopping trip.

Tropical 7UP

The iconic caffeine-free soda is bringing back Tropical 7UP,  a returning favorite that blends mango and peach flavors with the classic lemon and lime. The additional sweetness isn’t overwhelming, though, ensuring you finish the drink feeling refreshed. Instagram’s @kitkat_kollector tried it recently and told us, “The tropical 7Up Zero isn’t bad. It’s a refreshing option but doesn’t stray too far from the traditional 7Up.” Tropical 7UP is available in regular and sugar-free versions.

Sunkist Berry Lemonade, Cherry Limeade, Watermelon Lemonade and Strawberry Orange Mango Orange

Sunkist is coming in strong with its 2025 summer collection, offering up Berry Lemonade, Cherry Limeade, Watermelon Lemonade, Strawberry Orange and Mango Orange. You’ll find variety and single-flavor packs as well as 2-liter bottles at Walmart and Brookshire’s.  If you’re up for a road trip, though, an additional flavor, Sunkist Blood Orange Raspberry is exclusively available at Casey’s. Most of the convenience stores are in the North Texas area right now, but Casey’s is expanding across Texas, so be on the lookout.

Dr Pepper Blackberry

Dr Pepper is adding a 24th flavor to its classic formula, with the addition of blackberry in this brand-new drink that just hit store shelves. Dr Pepper Blackberry is the brand’s latest permanent addition to its more than a dozen products available year-round, but it’s getting mixed reviews from Grocery Obsessed fans, with @krisandchrisplus6 of Instagram saying, “[It] tastes EXACTLY like NyQuil,” and Quinn Jalbert on Facebook describing it as “so good.” Dr Pepper Blackberry is available as sugar-free and regular flavors.

Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream

Wild Cherry & Cream marks Pepsi’s foray into the world of “dirty sodas,” a trend that originated on TikTok but that has since gained a mainstream following. Building upon the success of Pepsi Wild Cherry, the new drink initially treats your taste buds to the cherry-infused soda fans have come to know and love followed by a hint of vanilla. Pepsi Wild Cherry & Cream has only been out for about a month, but it’s already become a viral favorite. It’s available in sugar-free and regular flavors.

Coca-Cola Orange Cream

If you were to take Coca-Cola (or simply “Coke,” as we call it in Texas) and add orange and cream sodas to it, you’d get Coca-Cola Orange Cream. Grocery Obsessed Facebook followers overwhelmingly like the new drink, with the consensus being that it’s “yummy” and Tana Smith going so far as to say it tastes “like a dessert.” Coca-Cola says they’re planning on Orange Cream staying in stores until 2026, but as with all good things, there aren’t any guarantees. Coca-Cola Orange cream is available in regular and sugar-free options.

Olipop Peaches & Cream

Olipop’s oh-so-popular Peaches & Cream soda is coming back for 2025 with a newly designed can (sans Barbie), but here’s the best news you’ll hear today: It’s now a permanent flavor. You can find the prebiotic soda, with its unique blend of actual peach juice, real vanilla and white peach flavoring, exclusively at Whole Foods.

Here are few drinks we’re looking forward to trying:

  • Sprite + Tea (May)

  • A&W Ice Cream Sundae (August)

  • Sprite Chill Strawberry Kiwi (March)
