Ultimate Guide to the Best HEB Stores Around Austin
Austin is home to some cool and innovative HEB grocery stores. Whether you're a local or just visiting, these stores offer more than just groceries—they're destinations in their own right. You know how much us Texans love our HEB, afterall. Let's dive into some of the best HEB locations in Austin that you have to check out.
Must-Visit HEB Locations in Austin
1
HEB Lake Austin
2652 Lake Austin Blvd, Austin, TX 78703
Opened in 2023, HEB Lake Austin is not your average grocery store. Imagine a place that feels more like a mall with its multi-story layout and cart escalator. Plus, you can grab a bite at South Flo Pizza or True Texas BBQ, and even enjoy a coffee at Lake Austin's Coffee Spot, one of the few HEB-operated coffee shops. It's a shopping experience like no other!
2
HEB Mueller
1801 E 51st St, Austin, TX
HEB Mueller is where food lovers unite! This store has the most restaurants of any HEB, all conveniently located in a food court called Main Streat. The store’s entrance is also pretty epic, with a curved awning designed to look like an airplane hangar—a nod to the old Robert Mueller Municipal Airport.
Inside, you can find the food hall just to the right of the entrance. It has six restaurants including:
Roots Chicken Shak
South Flo Pizza
True Texas BBQ
The Iron Grill
Yumai Japanese Grill
Bar at Mueller
I've got the menus for all these spots right here. Trust me, you'll want to try them all!
3
HEB Plus! Hutto
5000 Gattis School Rd, Hutto, TX 78634
HEB Plus Hutto is a must-visit for a couple of reasons. First, it’s home to a unique HEB Fresh Bites Convenience Store and Whataburger combo—one of only two in the world! It also has Mia’s Mirror, a chic boutique inside the grocery store with cute jewelry, shoes, clothing, mugs, candles, and more. As an “HEB Plus!” store in the burbs, it also has a great selection of products.
4
HEB Wolf Lakes Village in Georgetown
1010 W University Ave, Georgetown, TX 78628
Nestled at the entrance of the Wolf Lakes Village neighborhood, designed to look like a European village, this HEB stands out with its beautiful stone entrance.
Inside, there’s a two-story True Texas BBQ with a bar on the second floor. If you go, you’ve got to try the cobbler—it’s more like a soft cake with warm fruit on top, and it's absolutely delicious!
5
HEB Nutty Brown
12021 US-290, Austin, TX 78737
When the Nutty Brown Amphitheater closed in 2021, it was a sad day for many. But HEB honored its legacy by building a new store on the site. Near the entrance, you’ll find a mural paying homage to the location’s history, and above the shopping carts, you’ll see signed guitars from legendary Texas musicians. It's a beautiful blend of past and present, making this HEB a special place to visit.
